Red Blotch virus is a new(er) viral disease that is often mistaken or hidden by the symptoms of Grapevine Leafroll virus. How do you tell the two viruses apart if they are so easily confused? Join the CSU Viticulture Extension team and Dr. Achala KC to learn about the history, detection, and sampling methods for red blotch virus in vineyards.
The event will be held Virtually and take place on November 9th from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM MT.

Speaker Biography
Dr. Achala KC joined the department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University in October 2016. She is an Associate Professor of Plant Pathology stationed at OSU’s Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center in Central Point, OR. Her research focuses on integrated disease management of commercially important crops in southern Oregon, including wine grapes. She has worked on various research projects including epidemiology and diagnosis of grapevine red blotch virus, understanding the predominant grapevine trunk disease pathogens in Oregon vineyards and their management. She also engages with local stakeholders and growers via monthly forums, annual workshops, and field days while extending research-based knowledge for better disease management and ultimate productivity.
